Project Overview and Machine Design
We were approached to offer a solution for a customer that wanted to automate a cardboard folding process, the concept of the folding was established and then the scope of the machine developed to completely automate the process. The final machine has six pallet stations on the infeed, a de-stacking area that takes individual boards from a pallet orientates them and then folds them as required and then counts them into small retail batches for strapping and shrink wrapping.
The empty pallets are transferred aside and stacked for easy removal and reuse. The whole process is continuous and requires only the loading of pallets onto the infeed in batches. This is a big bespoke machine and we thought a one off however the project was such a success that a second system was ordered within weeks of the first machine commissioning being completed. The customer has two identical machines running daily which gives him a very flexible process when it comes to the many sizes the machines can cater for.
The control system uses Mitsubishi controls and gives the operator the ability to tune the twenty plus drives to reach the optimum performance using an HMI touchscreen, we have a remote connection to the machines and should we need to we can log in to help fault finding from almost anywhere.

Case and Box Loading Solutions
Case and box loading is a very worthwhile progression in the automation of packaging lines, product can be conveyed and orientated into a format that can be pushed into an open case or dropped into a partially erected case. The case can be secured with either hot melt glue or tape. We design to meet the requirements of the product, rather than have a standard format we offer a bespoke solution designed to a minimum foot print by being sized to the actual needs.
